Just How Big a Force is the Nail Polish Community?

I've been taken aback by the number of hits on my last post about Royal Mail destroying polish and scanning parcels, and it seems to have become a bit of a hot topic in the nail polish community, even affecting amazing brands like A England, who announced on her Facebook page that she now has to find a way to ship polish to her customers abroad as she can no longer use Royal Mail.

It seems this is a bit of an international problem, although I think Royal Mail are so far the only ones to be found destroying the parcels.

So, it got me to wondering, how big is the nail polish community?  Are we big enough to force some sort of change to these rules?  It is Civil Aviation rules and yet they don't ask you if you have nail polish in your luggage do they?  I understand that they have to be careful about how and what is shipped.  However I find it ridiculous for nail polish to be classified a dangerous substance!  And it will affect small businesses and surely that has to be considered too?

I personally haven't got time to battle this sort of campaign.  All I know is there should be some way for individuals to share their love of the glory that is nail polish with fellow addicts all over the globe, cheaply and easily.  And for small businesses to be able to sell their much loved products internationally.

To that end I have put a poll at the side of my blog.  I'd love to know how many people there are out there who have previously shipped polish abroad.  If there are enough of us then surely we can persuade the powers that be to make a change.  If someone then wants to pick up the torch and run with it then that would be fantastic.  So please answer as to whether you do mail polish overseas.

I do hope this isn't a permanent situation and we can continue to share our pretties and sparklies with our friends around the globe.

  1. Voted and yes, I also hope this is not a permanent thing and I truly hope it will not happen in other countries as well or else, this will be the end of my ability to get new polishes :-(

  2. I am happy to take this on. But I think it needs to be a worldwide thing. Its Civil Aviation Authority rules which need to be changed, not Royal Mail.

    1. Sally, I was thinking the same but don't have time to orginize this either. What about creating a FB about it, invite everybody we know is nail polish lover, create a buzz and then in the end start petition or something?

  6. I'm bringing you a note from Russia) We have an enormous (well maybe not that enormous, but definitely hundreds of people) community that constantly ship nail polishes oversea - British brands are just gorgeous, how can we live without them(((

We've been discussing the Royal Mail issue the whole day today - personally I'm still waiting for a shipping note on a couple of polishes from A-England and also today me and a couple of my friends have placed an order on Illamasqua site and I'll be miserable if they are lost or worse destroyed((

so i guess a facebook page is really necessary, cause these regulations on nail polishes are just increadibly stupid - how much harm can they bring?!(

  9. The pessimist in me fears that rather than convincing them to allow polish to be mailed, they may decide to ban polish from personal luggage!

  10. Boo, I sure hope not. I travel way too much to be able to bear going with no polish.

  11. I just got first notice that polish was stolen by Royal Mail - I get parcels of NAils Inc and Leighton Denny from QVC UK from nice lady in Scotland who forwards to me as I am terminally ill with stage 4 breast cancer and they were the bright spots in my life, painting my nails exciting new textures here in bed. They should have warned in advance and I would not have wasted my Christmas money and got all excitied looking forward to my own happy little Christmas. Now it is ruined and I am sure they will destroy all of my orders. i am desolate and cannot stop crying. No other country is destroying property, how could stye. they do not know how mcuh they are hurting people. What did I do to deserve this?
